Early Life and Family

Patricia Edwina Victoria Knatchbull was born on February 26, 1924, in London, England. She was the daughter of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Louis Mountbatten, and his wife, Edwina Mountbatten.

Patricia had a privileged upbringing and was educated at various boarding schools in England. She was a bright and inquisitive child who developed a keen interest in history and politics.

Marriage and Children

In 1946, Patricia married Lieutenant John Knatchbull, a naval officer. The couple had eight children together:

Public Service

Patricia was a dedicated public servant who supported various charitable organizations. She was particularly active in the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Royal National Institution for the Blind.

In 1979, Patricia was appointed as the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, a role she held until her death.

Death and Legacy

Patricia died on June 13, 2017, at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Hampshire.

Patricia was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving others. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her community.
