Gregg Berhalter, a former American soccer player and current coach, has had a distinguished career in the sport. As a player, he represented the United States national team and played professionally for several clubs in Europe. After retiring from playing, Berhalter transitioned into coaching and has led the United States national team since 2018.

Playing Career

Berhalter's playing career spanned over a decade, from 1994 to 2007. He made his professional debut with the USL Pro Select League team Carolina Dynamo in 1994, and then went on to play for Zwolle in the Netherlands, Crystal Palace in England, Energie Cottbus in Germany, and 1860 Munich in Germany.

Internationally, Berhalter represented the United States at various levels, including the U-20, U-23, and senior national teams. He earned a total of 49 caps for the senior team and scored five goals.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Berhalter began his coaching career in 2012 as an assistant coach with the United States U-17 national team. He was appointed head coach of the United States U-19 national team in 2016 and led the team to the semifinals of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

In 2018, Berhalter was named head coach of the United States national team. Under his leadership, the team won the inaugural Nations League in 2019, and the 2021 Gold Cup.
