Meadows' Request to Move Georgia Case Rejected
Former White House Chief of Staff Appeals to 11th Circuit
ATLANTA - Mark Meadows, former White House chief of staff under President Donald Trump, has filed a notice of appeal to the US 11th Circuit Court of Appeals after a federal judge in Georgia rejected his request to move his criminal case to federal court.
On Friday, Judge Thomas W. Jones of the Northern District of Georgia denied Meadows' effort to move the case, in which he is facing felony charges related to his alleged interference in the 2020 election in Georgia. Meadows' legal team had argued that the federal courts had jurisdiction over the matter, given his status as a former high-ranking White House official.
During a hearing held on Monday, Meadows testified that he believed his actions regarding the 2020 election fell within the scope of his job as chief of staff.
