Early Life and Career

Colin Kelly Jost, pronounced "djohst," was born on June 29, 1982, in Staten Island, New York City. He began his comedy career while attending Harvard University, where he was a member of the improvisational comedy group, the Harvard Lampoon. After graduating, Jost moved to Los Angeles, where he wrote for various comedy shows, including "Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update Thursday" and "The Daily Show."

Success on Saturday Night Live

In 2005, Jost joined the writing staff of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL). He quickly became a popular figure on the show, known for his sharp wit and satirical takes on current events. In 2014, he became the co-anchor of SNL's "Weekend Update" segment alongside Michael Che, a role he has held ever since.

Jost's work on SNL has earned him numerous accolades, including four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. He has also written several sketches that have gone viral, such as the "Donald Trump Jr. Press Conference" and the "Sarah Palin Cold Open."

Film and Television Career

In addition to his work on SNL, Jost has also appeared in several films and television shows. He had a supporting role in the 2016 romantic comedy "How to Be Single" and voiced the character of Tom in the 2021 animated film "Tom & Jerry." He has also made guest appearances on shows such as "30 Rock," "Parks and Recreation," and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
